Computer Changed My Life

    In my life there have many great changes in technology. Many of these changes have affected my life greatly. They have made it both easier and faster to do things. The one piece of technology that has affected my life is the computer and all its programs.

    The computer and all its programs have made my life so much easier. Before the computer was invented you either had to write out what you wanted to say or typewrite it on the typewriter. However this was not always easy because if you made a mistake there was no way to fix it but to write it over again or use white out. With the computer though, mistakes could be made and fixed before I print it out. These mistakes could be solved within seconds by doing a spelling and grammar check. Also, the computer I can save my work so if something happens to the first copy another copy could easily be made. With the typewriter and plain old writing it if the original copy was damaged you had to write it over again. Another great thing about the computer is that it is faster. If I want to write this essay by hand it would take me about twice the time because I would have to write the letters instead of just pressing buttons to get the letters on the screen. Next, the computer has many programs on it like all of the Microsoft office programs so that I could do all of my school work and it sometimes has games on it. Also, the computer usually has an internet connection. The internet is the one thing that saves me a boat load of time. On the internet I could research a topic for an essay I am supposed to write for school. This takes the place of going to the library and spending the whole day to find the same information that I could find on the internet in 5 minutes. With the information from the internet I could copy and paste the important info into a word document and use that information to create my reports, but with books I would have to copy the page that has good information on a copier or copy it by hand. Also, I could communicate with people on the internet through email right from home while I am doing my reports. The internet makes me feel like the world is at my fingertips all I need to do is explore.

    The computer has made my life easier and freer to do fun stuff by lessoning the time that is spent doing school work. Technology has changed my life so much and I love it. The world of technology is always changing and I can’t wait to see what is made next.

Online Shopping

 

     Many of people who own a computer has bought something on the internet at least once but how are people lives affected? Is it unsafe or difficult to order the goods you want on a site you do not know? Or is it more expensive than going to a shop and buy the things you want there?

   Online shopping is making things much easier in terms of time. The only thing you have to do is going to the internet page, choose the product you want and buy it. After that you have to wait less than four days and whatever you bought it is in front of your door. To go shopping online is very important for some people because you can buy food as well as things you need in the household and if you are not able to go out any more for any reason. You have got everything you need on the internet shop. Another good opportunity in online shopping is you are able to compare prices much easier.

   The weakness of online shopping is that you have to be really careful in choosing the site you want to buy the things you need. Some sites just want your money and won't give you anything. Another big problem is the quality of the things you get. If you order food for example and you get old or bad one you are able to send it back but you can't got anything for that. Online shopping is always quite tricky, you have to look at the prices and compare them to the other sites to be sure you are not paying too much for the goods you want.

   In my opinion internet shopping is a good and useful invention. If you are in a place where nothing is around and you need things for example a music player or ear phones you are able to order it so easily but you always have to choose a serious site where you can make sure that the things you are ordering are definitely coming to the place you want.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Technology

In the last two decades technology has been changing deeply our society. Our habits, attitudes and our management of time are completely different from what they were 20 years ago.
I think there has been a real revolution, which has broken the old system and social schemes such as the Industrial Revolution which changed the production system in the eighteenth century or the Cultural Revolution which shook the conscience of society in the sixties.
This Revolution has created many advantages in our workplaces and in our daily lives, but also some disadvantages. In many workplaces technology has improved the personnel capabilities ant it has increased efficiency, reducing the time of employment. For example now a small and very cheap computer can perform a job more accurate and in a shorter time than 20 years ago, when the some job needed dozens of people to be performed.
Technology has also improved our quality of life very much, and it has allowed us to live much better than 20 years ago. Before there were only very useful electronic devices such as refrigerators, the television and the radio, now new technology has improved our standard of life and its quality. In fact, in the Western countries where electronic devices are widespread, everybody has a mobile phone, which enables him to call everyone, everywhere, in anytime for emergency, for business or for pleasure. Moreover a lot of people have a navigation system in their own car that permits them to arrive at the desired place quickly and safely. Most people have a digital camera which can catch every exciting moments of their life and they can record all the data on a very little part of a personal computer memory and so on for other electronic devices, like the internet, satellite television, etc…

But this revolution has also create some disadvantages. Since the 1980s, technology is used daily by the majority of the population. It has become the first source of information all around the world. Moreover, an increasing number of youths become addict to all kind of gadgets and it becomes worrying. While in most instances a majority of people think that technology is here to help them make their life better, this concept is controversial for many reasons. To begin with, I believe it interferes human relationships. Furthermore, technology leads them to the incapacity to think by themselves, and finally we will observe the health effects on human. First and foremost, there are multiple negative effects of technology on human, but the most frightening is that it interferes on human relationships. In fact, nowadays there is less and less communication between people. They do not talk as much as they used to, and when they do it is mostly non-verbally. There are many reasons why this phenomenon is happening. First of all, the major cause is that technology has become fashionable. Fashion is among human’s life because it is innate that people follow it. So when technology becomes fashion, and when it is necessary to be up to date, people follow the trend. Plus, technology has become very useful on a daily basis, and humans being are always looking for the easiest and the more convenient way to do their work. For example, if a student has to do a research paper on Adolf Hitler, he only has to type his name on Google and all the information that he or she needs are going to appear on the screen. No need to go to the library and look for a book of Hitler’s biography. Thus, youths will not use their capacities to think and find information by themselves.

Google Smart-Glasses

What you are doing with your camera, for example, taking a picture of a celebrity and then checking on our database to see if we have a facial image match, you could do the same thing with a wearable visual device.

Google revealed that “Project Glass,” which takes all the functionality of a smartphone and places it into wearable eyeglasses, is something that a small team of their engineers have been working on for over two years now. The clear lens could display anything from text messages and reminders, to video charts and maps with turn-by-turn directions. They may also be capable of taking photos and recording videos; all through simple voice commands, according to the concept Google released earlier this year.

Google has picked eight-thousand people in the U.S. to wear its new internet-connected glasses called 'Google Glass'. Those chosen will have to pay $1,500 to try the smart glasses, and travel to New York, Los Angeles or the San Francisco Bay area to pick them up.

The glasses respond to voice commands, and are equipped with a hidden camera and a tiny display screen  above the right eye. The device is expected to be widely available late this year or early next year.
